JUABEN MCE DISTRIBUTES FARM INPUTS TO FARMERS IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The Municipal Chief Executive for Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Omane Aboagye has distributed farm inputs to farmers in the Municipality.

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in collaboration with other West African States intend to participate in the Second Phase of the West African Food System Resilience Programme (FSRP2) under the World Bank Multi_ Phase Programmatic Approach (MPA) to ” increase preparedness against food insecurity and improve the resilience of food systems in participating countries.”

According to the Juaben MCE, this is a 5 year Programme and it is expected to contribute to enhancing the capacity of vulnerable households, families, communities and food systems within the country to face uncertainty and the risk of shocks to withstand and respond effectively to shocks as well as to recover and adapt in a sustainable manner.

Mr. Omane continued that, the project is focuses in the cultivation of cereal and legume crops (rice, maize and soya bean) and sixteen (16) District out of 43 MMDAs in Ashanti Region are participating in this Programme and Juaben Municipality is fortunate to be part of

them and this is the biggest support the government is offering to farmers.

My dear farmers remain loyal to the important project to ensure continuity and whatever you have benefited today, make sure you make the payment after your harvest, he pleaded.

10 farmer groups received 1264 fertilizers (NPK 820 ,UREA 444) and 790 bottles of weedicides and this according to the MCE is expected to boost food productivity in the Municipality and also ensure food security.

He edged all the farmers to utilized this opportunity well to improved their livelihood.
