Juaben MCE Cuts Sod for New Targeted Emergency Projects at Juaben SHS

Madam Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben in the Ashanti Region, has officially cut sod for infrastructural expansion projects at Juaben Senior High School (SHS), aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions.

The projects would be funded by the Government of Ghana (GoG), the Ministry of Education (MoE), and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) formed part of the government’s commitment to upgrade selected senior high schools in the country.

The facility, which is being executed by Joyflux Company Limited, Geosmads Company Limited, and N & J Slendor Construction Limited includes the construction of 3-story 18-unit classrooms, Dining Hall with Kitchen, 2No: 12-Seater Toilet Facility.

The rest are construction of 2No: Dormitory Block, 2No: 4-unit, 2-Bedroom staff and Headmaster’s Bungalows, and rehabilitation of various existing structures to give facelift to the Juaben SHS.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony at the school’s forecourt, Madam Ohenewaa Ansu said the project would give the school a facelift and bring it up to the standard of schools like Opoku Ware, Prempeh College, and Achimota SHS.

She expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing education and working to ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning in Juaben Municipality.

The MCE urged contractors to adhere strictly to the projects timelines and encouraged the engagement of local skills labour to help create employment opportunities for the youth in the Municipality.

Mr. Kofi Ampofo-Nuako, Headmaster of Juaben Senior High School, thanked the MCE and the central government for their collaborative efforts in making the project a reality. Mr. Nuako pledged to provide them with the necessary support to complete the projects on time.

Nana Owusu Yentumi, Gyaasehene of the Juaben Traditional Area, representing Daasebre Otuo Sireboe II, commended the government for the massive infrastructural expansion projects at Juaben SHS since its establishment in 1972.

Nana Yentumi advised the contractors working on the various projects to desist from doing shoddy works. He said education projects were important and must be durable enough to stand the test of time for generations unborn.

The ceremony brought together education officials, traditional leaders, security personnel, school authorities, students and residents who welcomed the commencement of the project with excitement and optimism for the future of Juaben SHS.
