Juaben Municipal Assembly met a Water & Sanitation For Urban Poor NGO with regards to Providing Selected Institutional Sanitation Facility In Juaben Municipality.
Juaben Municipal Assembly and Hopeson Consult Ltd organized a project inception meeting on district assemblies for Baseline studies on water and sanitation for urban poor on 12th March, 2024.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Omane Aboagye in his address at the meeting welcomed the Hopeson Consult Ltd team, thanked them and informed everyone present of the importance of this initiative.
The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) Dr. Stephen Lurimuah said at the meeting that it is the responsibility of the assembly to undertake 100% of the project in the assembly.
He said the assembly is happy to receive Hopeson Consult Ltd to carry out such projects in the Municipality and the assembly will do everything possible to assist them to carry out those projects.
Mr. John Alate, a member from the Hopeson Consult Ltd team, also speaking at the meeting thanked the assembly for accepting them and allowing them carry out their project interventions strengthening wash delivery in selected districts which Juaben is part.
Mr. Alate gave a brief update on the last meeting and informed that they have processed the tender documents and advertised the tender, to which certain companies have applied.
He also said they have opened the tender and invited the Municipal Planning Officer to assist, help evaluate and select the contractors who will do the project in various schools and communities.
He also mentioned that the work has a component of training wash facility management committee that will train personnel’s on how to use the facilities before handing over the project.
Mr. Joseph Aboagye who is the project lead at Hopeson Consult Ltd said that they will be handling the baseline which is very important for the intervention and they will be going from house to house to get data to enable them carry out the project.
He also asked the assembly to help them with all the information needed.
Mr. Benjamin Eyiram Nyamadi of Juaben Municipal Assembly also said they have already sent officers to the various communities for data and would like to know whether Hopeson Consult Ltd were going to build on the survey they did or gather new data for this project.
The MCD in answering said this project is different and is going to be different from the survey they did.
