Juaben MCE Empowers PWDs with Distribution of Essential Support Items

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben, Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to inclusive development by distributing essential support items to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality.

A total of 22 PWDs benefitted from the Disability Common Fund under the latest intervention, which marks the 13th disbursement since the inception of the Juaben Municipal Assembly. The initiative highlights the Assembly’s sustained efforts to empower vulnerable groups and promote economic independence.

The beneficiaries were drawn from various communities across the municipality, including Atia, Abetenim, Ofoase, Juaben, Duampompo, Nobewam, Bomfa, Adumasa, Peminase, Wabiri, and Achiase.

The items, categorized as income generating, were carefully selected to support beneficiaries in establishing or expanding their trades. They included deep freezers, ovens and baking pans, fufu pounding machines, industrial sewing machines, cocoa spraying machines, and weedicides.

Addressing the gathering, the MCE emphasized that the programme is aimed at reducing dependency and improving livelihoods among PWDs. She reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that development remains inclusive and beneficial to all.

These items are meant to empower you to earn a living and support yourselves. We encourage you to use them effectively so that you can improve your standard of living, she stated.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Juaben Chairman of the Ghana Blind Union, Godfred Amponsah, expressed profound appreciation to the Assembly for the continued support to persons with disabilities.

We are very grateful to the Assembly and the MCE for this intervention. This is not the first time, and it shows that you truly care about persons with disabilities. These items will help us to work and earn a living. We assure you that they will be put to good use, he stated.

Mr. Amponsah further appealed for the timely release of funds and the expansion of the programme to cover more beneficiaries within the municipality

Some beneficiaries further shared their appreciation, describing the initiative as timely and impactful, and pledged to utilize the items effectively to improve their economic conditions.

The event brought together Assembly officials, representatives of disability groups, and community members, all of whom commended the initiative as a step towards inclusive growth and empowerment in the Juaben Municipality.
