Juaben NCCE Engages Women on Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption

The Juaben Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from the European Union (EU) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) on 31st October, 2025 organized a town hall meeting with a women’s group to promote citizens’ participation in strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption in Ghana.

Held at the Juaben Anglican Parish Hall on Friday, 31st October, 2025, the meeting brought together women leaders from various communities, market associations, churches, and civil society groups across the Municipality. The engagement formed part of NCCE’s nationwide efforts to deepen civic education and empower women as key stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

In his opening remarks, the Municipal Director of NCCE, Mr. Kodjo Adjormadoh, emphasized that the rule of law is the foundation of peace, justice, and national development. He encouraged participants to model integrity within their families and communities, saying, “Women have the power to shape values and attitudes in society. If we instill honesty, respect, and discipline in our homes, corruption will lose its roots.”

The Municipal Director for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mrs. Bertha Zaazie also highlighted how corruption undermines social services and called for collective efforts to promote transparency and accountability.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing experiences and proposing community-based strategies such as civic education at market centers, promoting moral values among children, and refusing to pay or receive bribes.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the women to become ambassadors of integrity within their communities. Many pledged to educate others on the importance of obeying laws, reporting corruption, and supporting national anti-corruption initiatives.

The NCCE expressed appreciation to the European Union and GIZ for their continuous support in building a culture of integrity, accountability, and civic responsibility.
