Juaben NCCE Engages Junior High School Students on Adolescent Reproductive Health in Ofoase and its environs.

The Juaben Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on 30th October, 2025 organised a sensitisation programme on Adolescent Reproductive Health for Junior High School students in Ofoase, as part of efforts to promote healthy lifestyles among young people.

The exercise, held in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and under the auspices of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana, aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining good reproductive health, making responsible choices, and avoiding behaviours that could jeopardize their future.

During the session, resource persons from the NCCE and the Health Directorate took turns to address key topics including personal hygiene, puberty, teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and the importance of self-discipline and respect for one another.

Ms. Edith Obea Ampadu of NCCE, in her remarks, emphasized that adolescence is a critical stage of development, hence the need for proper guidance and education to help young people make informed decisions. She urged the students to stay focused on their education and report any form of abuse or exploitation to trusted adults or authorities.

Students participated actively by asking questions and sharing their views, making the session highly interactive and insightful. The programme forms part of the Commission’s broader effort to support national initiatives on adolescent health and well-being.
