Juaben NCCE and GHS Sensitize Communities on Sanitation and Environmental Protection

The Juaben Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) of Juaben and under the auspices of SOS Children’s Villages, Ghana, has undertaken a sanitation and environmental protection sensitization exercise across selected communities within the municipality.

The activity, held on 3rd November, 2025, reached residents of Achiase, Esaase, Wabiri, Peminase, and Akronwe through mobile van whistle-stops and Community Information Centres (CICs).

During the outreach, Ms. Charity Tandoh of the Juaben Municipal NCCE educated residents on the need to maintain good sanitation practices such as regular desilting of gutters, proper plastic waste management, and community cleanliness. She also cautioned against the destructive effects of illegal mining (galamsey), stressing its impact on water bodies, farmlands, and human health.

The sensitization formed part of efforts to promote environmental stewardship, public health, and responsible citizenship among community members.
