JUABEN MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS RISK COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FORUM ON MPOX

The Juaben Municipal Assembly has organized a Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) programme to educate residents on Mpox and how to prevent its spread.

The programme was held at the Juaben Municipal Assembly Hall and brought together assembly members, health workers, security personnel, traders, and community leaders.

Giving the purpose of the gathering, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Dr. Stephen Lurimuah, said the programme was to educate the public with accurate information to help protect lives and prevent panic and misinformation. He encouraged participants to share the knowledge with others in their communities.

The Juaben Municipal Health Directorate, Mrs. Jualina Akomea Opoku, gave the welcome address and thanked participants for attending. She urged everyone to take the discussions seriously and support efforts to prevent the disease.

Health officials educated participants on what Mpox is, its symptoms, how it spreads, and ways to prevent infection. Participants were advised to wash their hands regularly, avoid close contact with infected persons, keep good hygiene, and report any suspected case to the nearest health facility.

Participants also asked questions and shared concerns during an interactive session.

The programme forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen public awareness and keep the municipality safe and healthy.
