
Juaben Municipal Assembly held the first ordinary meeting for 2025 on 14th July.

“According to the law, District Assemblies in Ghana lack the authority to arrest illegal miners. Instead, their role is regulatory and administrative, focusing on licensing and overseeing mining operations within their jurisdiction. Law enforcement agencies, such as the police and military, particularly through specialized task forces like Operation Vanguard, handle arrests and prosecutions.”

“While District Assemblies in Ghana play a crucial role in regulating and managing mining activities, they work in tandem with law enforcement agencies, such as the police and military, to tackle illegal mining. The assemblies focus on administrative and regulatory duties, while law enforcement handles arrests and prosecutions, as seen in initiatives like Operation Vanguard.”

President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members(GAAM) commends the government for allocating a monthly stipend to Assembly Members.
